Towson Hosting Model UN Training
About 250 Baltimore County high school students will learn about the art of diplomacy during the training at Towson University.

From BCPS: Two hundred and fifty students from 15 Baltimore County high schools will participate in this year’s daylong training for next spring’s Model United Nations event, sponsored by Baltimore County Public Schools and Towson University. The BCPS high schools participating are Chesapeake, Dundalk, Eastern Technical, Franklin, George Washington Carver Center, Hereford, Lansdowne, Loch Raven, Milford Mill, New Town, Owings Mills, Perry Hall, Towson, Western, and Woodlawn. During the training day, students will learn about international diplomacy and the work of the United Nations and will meet with Towson University professors.

Background: The award-winning BCPS-Towson University Model UN program was founded by Hugh Kearney, now a teacher at Carver Center, when he was a teacher at Woodlawn High School. The program was designed to provide more students with a Model UN program by reducing costs and increasing supports. The BCPS-Towson University Model UN will be held on Towson University’s campus on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, 2019.
