Towson Mural Is Largest Artwork In Baltimore County: Chamber
The Towson Chamber of Commerce commissioned the $35,000 mural outside the library, which it says is the largest artwork in Baltimore County.
TOWSON, MD — A ribbon cutting is planned to celebrate the new mural at the Towson branch of the Baltimore County Public Library. The artwork, which spans six panels, was completed during two weeks in October.
"Because it is such a great piece of work and the largest artwork in Baltimore County, it deserves a ribbon cutting," said Nancy Hafford, executive director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce. The chamber commissioned the piece, which greets visitors at the gateway to Towson.
Called "Elements of Development," the work features a geometric pattern and one word on each panel. Muralist Ryan Adams of Portland, Maine, hand-lettered these words:

Adams, who began his art career with graffiti, was featured in October by Forbes.
The Towson Chamber of Commerce commissioned the $35,000 mural using part of the $50,000 Community Legacy Grant from the state of Maryland it received in 2019 to fund public art. The Friends of the Towson Library contributed $3,500 to the mural's creation as well, since there is a required 10 percent community contribution.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6.
