Towson University Closes Early on Tuesday
Closure to allow students, staff to meet Baltimore City curfew.

The day will end earlier than usual for those at Towson University, where officials announced Tuesday afternoon the Baltimore County campus was wrapping up early because of a curfew in nearby Baltimore City.
All classes will end by 5 p.m. Tuesday at Towson University, and classes that start at 4:15 p.m. or later are canceled, according to the announcement from the university.
“This is to allow students and faculty living in Baltimore City to get home prior to the 10 p.m. curfew, and to exercise an abundance of caution,” the announcement said.

After riots broke out in Baltimore City Monday, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake instituted a citywide curfew, effective Tuesday night.

The curfew in Baltimore City requires citizens to be inside from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily from Tuesday, April 28, to Tuesday, May 5, unless they are traveling for professional or medical reasons.

While the school day is abbreviated, activities on campus that are university-based will go on as planned, and all buildings, including dining halls, will remain open, Towson University reported.
