Vote Recount Request Pending In Baltimore County: Report

The Baltimore County executive race may be headed for a recount after a close call for the Democratic nomination.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Senator Jim Brochin will reportedly ask the Maryland State Board of Elections for a recount. The decision comes after the results from the race for the Baltimore County executive put him nine votes behind Johnny Olszewski in the Democratic primary.

"We are going to ask for a recount," Brochin told The Baltimore Sun on Saturday, adding that his team was looking into what type of recount would be most appropriate.

The final tally on Friday was 27,795 votes for Jim Brochin and 27,804 votes for Olszewski.

The winner for the Democratic nomination in the county executive race will face Al Redmer Jr., the state insurance commissioner, who defeated state Delegate Pat McDonough in last week's Republican primary.

The deadline for requesting a recount in the race for a local office is Monday, according to the Maryland State Board of Elections.
