FINKSBURG, Md. – River Downs Golf Club, one of the most challenging public golf courses in the Mid-Atlantic region, announces updates and details about the 18-hole, par 72 Arthur Hills-designed course known for its dramatic elevation changes and natural ravines.
New for 2013 is the completion by owners Rich and Jamie Isaac of course-wide renovations designed to restore River Downs to the level players remember from its earlier years. Since purchasing the course in 2007 they have worked to renovate many of the holes, creating a better overall experience for a true test of a golfer’s skills. Practice facility upgrades (mats as well as grass), improved tee boxes, a focus on the greens, bunker improvements and the introduction of Bermuda grass on some of the fairways are among the changes to the course this season.
The Isaacs have taken steps to welcome the community and non-golfers as well, creating a new menu for the café and offering Happy Hour specials. Additional seating is being added at the patio to encourage outdoor dining and to accommodate more people. “We want the community, including children, to come out more often – even if they’re not golfers,” says Jamie Isaac.

Rates for 2013 are: weekdays (Monday-Friday) - $39.50; weekdays (seniors) - $29.50; weekdays (twilight) - $29.50. Weekend rates are $49.50 and $39.50 (twilight).
