Ice Cream Guitar

Amazingly enough I recommend not trying guitar with ice cream on it. Most likely you'll chip a tooth and that will make it far less sweet than it originally looked.

That is however, a sound that we're finding to be very popular today. Gone are the 1980s and 1990s heavy metal super groups that defined generations with loud obnoxious music that deafened them to anything else... but I digress.

Ice Cream Guitar. It is a lighter pop sounding guitar that seems to be following us all around in the various genres that we listen to, rock, alternative, country, it's still there. But now it's lighter, cleaner... fluffier. IT'S SO FLUFFY!!! (Watch Despicable Me for reference)

As our culture changes, so do our guitar players, as they find ways to keep one of the most adaptable instruments in the world in business. What I find so amazing about this is the cycle we are following.

This ice cream sound originates from the lighter sound of the renaissance and employs strumming and rhythmic patterns that are simple and catchy. They are designed to bolster the rest of the music, providing harmony and melody at times simultaneously. Curious where you're supposed to find this guitar?

Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons. It's in there somewhere, quietly drawing you in. Learn to love it if you don't already. You probably do!

Remember, the Beetles were just as awesome with that simple strumming. So were the Beach Boys, even the Rolling Stones.

So love it.
