• MCDOT moves forward on new bike infrastructure in Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Wheaton (mymcmedia.org) — New bike infrastructure is coming directly to Wheaton, including safety upgrades along McComas Avenue and a planned Amherst Avenue bikeway that will better connect local riders to county trails and transit. Montgomery County is adding more than two miles of new bike paths now, with many more projects in the pipeline aimed at safer, multimodal streets.
   

• Burglaries, Vehicle Thefts and Weapons Arrest Included in August 31 Crime Summary (mocoshow.com subscription) — Police reported several serious incidents in the 4th District, including Wheaton, where a home on Firestone Drive had property and a vehicle stolen and officers later recovered a loaded handgun on Veirs Mill Road. The summary also notes a hit-and-run involving a person clinging to a vehicle door, plus related arrests and thefts in nearby districts.
