Beignets, Pączkis and More: Tuesday "Fat" With Mardi Gras Events

The procession of Mardi Gras is underway and Fat Tuesday’s belly is swelling with area events where you can enjoy the spirit of New Orleans.

First things first: If you're looking for Pazckis, the traditional Polish treat for just this occasion, we hear that Snider's in Silver Spring has them, as well as the Kielbasa Factory in Rockville. Let us know in the comments where you've found your own favorite treats.

If you’re looking for something for the family, and you missed the , then head across the river for the Clarendon Mardi Gras parade. Floats decorated by local merchants and adorned with live musicians will be rolling up Wilson Blvd, from the intersection of Wilson Blvd and N. Barton St. to the Clarendon Metro station. This is a family friendly event, so you’re guaranteed to walk away with both beads… and your dignity.

Dogfish Ale Mardi Gras Beer Dinner

If you’re not looking for parades and you’re on the prowl for Pilsners, then check out the Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg. They’re having an all-inclusive Mardi Gras Beer Dinner. Beer. Dinner. The venue, which was built in 1933 and is a Mediterranean style Art Deco historical landmark, is hosting Leroy Thomas and The Zydeco Roadrunners for your toes’ enjoyment. And if those toes don’t know how to move to this authentic Cajun music, then you should attend the dance lesson starting at 8 p.m. Door prizes and beads will accompany this soiree of sound.
