Costco Selling Fireworks?

Open Letter to Mr. Leggett, the County Council, the County Fire Marshall, and the County Chief of Police:  Why is Costco being allowed to sell fireworks at the Costco store in Westfield's Wheaton Mall?

Several of my friends tell me that Costco is selling fireworks at its Wheaton store.

Perhaps my friends are wrong.  [I cannot confirm what they say, because I am not a member of Costco.]  Perhaps the boxes they have seen do not contain fireworks.

Perhaps Costco has read the fine print of the County Code and has determined that what they are selling are not actually fireworks - as defined by the County Code.

My friends are reasonably intelligent people, but perhaps they are not as perceptive as Costco's friends.

As we understand it, Montomery County does not permit the sale of fireworks.

It seems to us that Costco is, in fact selling fireworks at it's store in Wheaton.

Perhaps we have missed something, but it seems to us that Costco is violating MoCo law.

Is Costco above the law?

Does the County intend to enforce the law?
