Why Go: It’s local and world music at the same time at the Strathmore’s Friday Night Eclectic series. This D.C.-based band draws on a variety of influences, especially African and Latin dance and funk of the past. Drink specials will be available.

Why Go: The heralded magician will host a special party in Gaithersburg to benefit a local toddler who is suffering from a serious feeding disorder. Any money not needed for medical bills will be donated to the Magic Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping over 25,000 families who have been affected by medical conditions which affect growth.

Why Go: Catch this retelling of the classic Greek tragedy set in Los Angeles, now in its 2nd to last week.

Why Go: You’ve always sung along to the movie at home, why not break out into song in downtown Silver Spring? A new 35mm “sing-along” print of the film will help you remember some of those trickier lyrics.
