Get Out: Independence Day Weekend

Celebrate the 4th... 3rd, 2nd, and 1st of July!

When/Where: July 1 through 4, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., (more dates throughout July) National Mall, Washington, DC

When/Where: July 2, 2 to 10 p.m.,  National Harbor 137 National Plaza, Oxon Hill, MD

Why Go? The amazing musical line-up (Pat McGee Band, The Wailers, many more), the food, fireworks, and beautiful outdoor venue make for a great show.

Pricing: $40

When/Where: July 2, 9 to 11 p.m., 5200 Glover Rd NW, Washington, DC (Open field just south of intersection of Military and Glover Rds.)

Why Go? National Park Service and National Capital Astronomers will guide your telescopes to take in the “celestial fireworks.”

When/Where: July 4, 8 a.m. 10101 Glenolden Dr, Potomac, MD

Why Go? Whether competitive runner or casual walker, you can join to have fun and help find a cure for autism.    

Pricing: $30 online registration/$40 day of/$15 for children ages 14 and under

When/Where: July 4, 7:30 pm 11135 Newport Mill Rd, Kensington, MD

Why Go? A shuttle from the Westfield Wheaton and Wheaton Metro Station will drop you off at the school to enjoy the concert by Bobby and the Believers (7:30 pm) that will be followed by the fireworks (9:15 pm).

Why go?  Takoma Park’s 122nd Independence Day Celebration, with its “mom and pop” feel and bungalow-adorned streets, serves up a savory slice of Americana apple pie.
