Why Go? This is a new community orchestra with 27 musicians who have come together for the sheer joy of performing -- the musicians do not get paid -- and showcasing some wonderful classical compositions for the public.

Where/When: Wheaton Triangle, corner of Grandview Avenue and Reedie Drive in downtown Wheaton, one block north of the Wheaton Metro station. Sunday, May 15, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go? This is the year's biggest event in Wheaton. You can sample food from the community's diverse restaurants and shops. This year there will be two stages of live entertainment featuring the Electrokoustic Band (Jazz); the Appaloosa Band (Top 40 Classic Rock); as well as salsa/Latin; R&B/Funk, children's music and a puppet theatre. There will be rides, face painting, a DJ area, dance performances and a chance to try your singing skills at "Wheaton Idol" karaoke.
Pricing: Free entry. Food samples from $1 to $5. Other prices will vary.
Where/When: Kensington Town Center, 3710 Mitchell Street, Kensington. May 13 and 14, 8 p.m.; May 15, 3 p.m.
Why Go: It's a chance to see the seldom produced musical based on the novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, at a reasonable cost. The original stage conception was by Steve Cuden and Frank Wildhorn. The music is by Wildhorn and the lyrics and book are by Leslie Bricusse. Jekyll & Hyde concerns a brilliant doctor whose experiments with human personality create a murderous counterpart.
Pricing: $20 general admission; $17 seniors and students; $13 Kensington residents and children 13 and younger.
The Centro Espanol de Washington D.C.'s 20th Feria de Seville
Where/When: Outdoors at Strathmore, Tuckerman Lane and Rockville Pike, North Bethesda. May 15, noon.
Why Go: This flamenco festival offers a chance to listen to live flamenco beats while watching the intricate food and arm work of dancers and eating tapas! Live performances will be offered on stage throughout the day and food tents will be spead across the Strathmore campus.
Pricing: Admission is free.
Run For the Animals! 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk
Where/When: , 2000 Shorefield Rd, Wheaton. May 15, 8:30 a.m. (Register on race day beginning at 7 a.m. or on Saturday, May 14 from 10:30 - 3:30 at Pro Feed Pet Nutrition Centers, 5542 Randolph Road, Rockville.)
Why Go: It's a fundaiser for Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, which provides refuge for wildlife and farm animals.
Pricing: $28 on Saturday; $30 on race day.
