Halloween Safety Tips
Going out trick-or-treating this Halloween? Here's some tips for you and your kids.

To make this evening's Halloween's festivities spooky but not too scary, the county police have a few tips for children and their parents celebrating the holiday.
- Trick or Treat in neighborhoods that you know. Don't go to a community or development you've never been to before because there are more homes in the community.
- Younger children should always be accompanied by parents or a responsible older sibling.
- Older children should plan out a trick-or treating route with their parents and return home at a planned time. If possible, carry a mobile phone.
- Don't approach homes without lights, or take candy left outside in a container.
- An adult should inspect any collected candy before the child eats it.
- Throw away any unwrapped or partially wrapped candy.
- Clear your yard of ladders, hoses or any other items that children could trip on.
- Battery powered jack-o'-lanterns candles are preferable to using a real flame.
- Place pumpkins away from where trick-or-treaters will be walking or standing.
Drivers should be aware along neighborhood streets and children should carry flashlights, walk on sidewalks where available and cross streets at corners
