Pedestrian Hit By Minivan In Wheaton Has Died: Police

A 24-year-old pedestrian has died after being struck by a minivan in Wheaton Tuesday night, police announced Friday.

WHEATON, MD — A pedestrian who was struck by a minivan in Wheaton Tuesday night has died, authorities announced Friday.

Roger Odin Martinez-Mejia, 24, of Wheaton, was killed after he was hit by 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan at the intersection of Randolph Road and Glenmont Circle. He was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Montgomery County Police.

Investigators have identified the driver of the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan as Harold Lanning Jr., of Silver Spring. Police said Lanning Jr. was driving eastbound on Randolph Road when he struck Martinez-Mejia.

Lanning Jr. and the other passengers in the car were not injured during the accident. Authorities said the Silver Spring resident remained on the scene of the collision.
