Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Wheaton Crash: PD

A pedestrian is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a minivan Tuesday night in the Wheaton-Glenmont area.

WHEATON, MD — A Montgomery County man is fighting for his life after he was struck by a minivan Tuesday night in the Wheaton-Glenmont area.

Montgomery County Police say the pedestrian was hit at the intersection of Randolph Road and Glenmont Circle shortly after 9 p.m. The patient — whom authorities identified only as a man from Wheaton — was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said a preliminary investigation found that the man was hit by a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The driver of the minivan — identified as Harold Lanning Jr. from Silver Spring — was traveling eastbound on Randolph Road when he struck the pedestrian.

Lanning Jr. and the other passengers in the car were not injured during the accident. Authorities said the Silver Spring resident remained on the scene of the collision.
