Community Rallies Around MoCo Family After Fatal Crash

ROCKVILLE, MD — Residents across Montgomery County are rallying their support behind a Rockville family after a fatal pedestrian crash.

A GoFundMe was launched Thursday to help with medical and funeral expenses after 44-year-old mother Raoudha Khelifi was fatally hit by a car.

The fatal pedestrian crash occurred late Monday near the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Twinbrook Parkway. Khelifi was hit by a car while she was in a crosswalk with her 4-year-old son.

Sameh Wanis, a family friend, wrote that the child remains in the hospital.

"Adam is now facing the unimaginable reality of growing up without his mother, while his father is facing the devastating loss of his wife and the responsibility of caring for their young son alone," Wanis wrote.

"We are asking our friends, family, community, and anyone who feels moved by this family’s story to please come together and support them during this incredibly difficult time."

Authorities said the driver in the case remained at the scene and continues to cooperate with the investigation.
