Secret Society Looks Forward to Introducing Themselves to the Community at Taste of Wheaton

This Sunday's Taste of Wheaton will offer a variety of entertainment, including music from Secret Society. This will be the band's first time playing at the festival.

Patch recently talked with drummer Duane Thomas about Secret Society and what he looks forward to at Sunday's Taste of Wheaton.

Patch: Who is Secret Society?
Duane Thomas: We’re six musicians who really enjoy playing together. Secret Society is comprised of myself on drums, Mike Thompson (vocals), Patrick Cooper (keyboard), David Dyson (bass), Robbie McDonald (lead guitar), and Bryan Mills (saxophone). Bryan Mills is the leader of the band. He grew up in Montgomery County.

Patch: How long has the band been together and how did you get into music?
DT: We’ve been together for a little over two years. I started playing music in church and playing gospel music, then started playing other music.  One of the first genres I started playing was Go-Go, then moved into R&B. With Secret Society, I’m just really blessed to play with such a great group of musicians.

Patch: Describe Secret Society's music.
DT: We play a little of everything:  jazz to old school R&B, a little pop. I’m playing with a great group of musicians who tour around the world.

Patch: What are you looking forward to the most at Taste of Wheaton?
DT: Meeting some great new people. We want to make everybody happy and come out and have some fun. We’re looking forward to letting people know who we are and introducing ourselves to the community of Wheaton. We want to gather some new fans to make Secret Society a household name.
