7 MA Billionaires Among Richest In World: New Forbes List

MASSACHUSETTS — Billionaire Abigail Johnson is again the wealthiest person in Massachusetts, according to Forbes' World's Billionaires List for 2024.

Johnson is worth an estimated $29 billion, up from $25 billion last year. She is the 58th richest person in the world, according to the list.

The Johnson family, owners of Fidelity Investments, are well represented as three of the top four richest people in Massachusetts. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is third in the state.

Forbes notes that there are "now more billionaires than ever" with 2,781 in all, which is 141 more than last year. The ultra-wealthy are also richer than ever, worth $14.2 trillion in aggregate, up by $2 trillion from last year.

Here are the Massachusetts residents who made the list:

• 58) Abigail Johnson, Fidelity Investments, $29 billion
• 168) Edward Johnson, IV, Fidelity Investments, $11.8 billion
• 188) Robert Kraft, New England Patriots owner, $11.1 billion
• 228) Elizabeth Johnson, Fidelity Investments, $9.9 billion
• 498) Jim Davis and family, New Balance owners, $5.9 billion
• 563) Robert Hale Jr., founder of Granite Telecommunications, $5.4 billion
• 920) Amos Hostetter, Jr., CEO of Continental Cablevision, $3.5 billion

Bernard Arnault and family, who oversee the LVMH fashion empire, topped the list with a net worth of $233 billion. The French company includes 75 fashion and cosmetics brands, including Louis Vuitton and Sephora.

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk ranks second with $195 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is close behind with $194 billion, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is next at $177 billion.

Though the U.S. no longer has the richest person in the world, it does have the most billionaires with 813. China is second with 473.
