A Massachusetts doctor lost her right to renew her license for storming the Capitol in the Jan. 6 insurrection and punching a police officer, the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine ruled.
The board revoked Jacquelyn Starer’s "right to renew her medical license after finding that she was among a crowd which stormed and breached the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, and that she struck a Metropolitan Police Officer with her closed fist," according to the disciplinary action.
Prior to her attack on the Capitol, Starer "bragged to a mutual acquaintance that she 'was prepared' for it, with a mesh knife-proof shirt and bottles of pepper spray," an FBI agent wrote in an affidavit.
Starer pleaded guilty to civil disorder, assaulting, resisting or impeding officers, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.
She was sentenced to nine months in federal prison.
Starer first obtained a license to practice medicine in Massachusetts in July 1983, according to the board, but "entered into a Voluntary Agreement Not to Practice."
"She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Public Health and General Preventive Medicine," the board said. "She has subspecialty certification in Addiction Medicine."
