Discount department store opens on the South Shore
Nordstrom Rack debuted a 27,000-square-foot store at 242 Colony Place in Plymouth on Thursday. The business, known as an off-price retail division of Nordstrom, opened at the shopping center near Routes 3 and 44.
Hundreds of job cuts looming in Mass. as companies close
Seven employers filed new Massachusetts Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications last month.
The layoff or closure notices list 647 affected positions at companies in Cambridge, Franklin, Littleton, Boston, Taunton and Wareham, along with a few remote workers.

Five new restaurants could be opening in this Mass. city
Five new food spots could be coming to Worcester following approvals from the city's licensing commission.
The Coop, Not Ya Mamas Vegan Cafe, Maaz's Chicken, Pida Pizzeria and Tropical Chicken Flavors all received unanimous approval for a Common Victualler license at the Worcester License Commission meeting Thursday morning.
Mass. ice cream shops offering $1 frozen yogurt
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream will offer $1 frozen yogurt during three launch events across Greater Boston this September.
Customers can get a small frozen yogurt, excluding toppings, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Harvard Square shop on Thursday, Sept. 17, The Street at Chestnut Hill shop on Friday, Sept. 18, and the Seaport shop on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Iconic Mass. store marks 55 years in business
Duck Soup in Sudbury will mark the 55th anniversary of its Oct. 12, 1971, opening with special events throughout October.
The store sells specialty foods, kitchenware, coffee, gifts, toys and products from local and international makers. It also hosts cooking classes, camps, birthday parties, cake-decorating programs and team-building events.
