‘A Light The World Needed’: GoFundMe Raises Over $70K For MA Teen Who Died In Overpass Crash
Travis Teixeira, 18, died after his vehicle fell from an overpass in Leominster, officials said.
ASHBURNHAM, MA — Community members in Central Massachusetts are coming together to support a family after a devastating loss.
Travis Teixeira, 18, died after his vehicle fell from an overpass in Leominster on Friday night. The vehicle was traveling on Route 2 East when it struck Nashua Street below, according to State Police.
Texeira's aunt started a GoFundMe, sharing that the family is "in need of support from their community to help them get through the days ahead." All funds raised will go directly toward covering funeral expenses, allowing the family to honor Travis's memory without financial strain, according to the fundraiser.

Teixeira, who is from Ashburnham, is being remembered as "a light that the world needed."
The fundraiser, which was created on Saturday by organizer Sean Quirk, has already raised more than $77,000 donations, as of Tuesday morning.

"Travis has always been such a great kid with a huge heart, a great athlete, an incredibly smart young man who got into every college he applied to. He was filled with passion, justice and light," the fundraiser said.
State police have not yet said if there were other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash or anyone's condition.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Worcester County State Police Detective Unit, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Leominster Police and Fire.
