A MA University Has The Best Campus Food In The Country, List Says

For its college rankings lists, The Princeton Review surveyed 165,000 students attending the schools.

AMHERST, MA — The University of Massachusetts Amherst has the best campus food in the United States, according to The Princeton Review's 2024 The Best 389 Colleges list.

For its college rankings lists, The Princeton Review says it surveyed 165,000 students attending the schools, asking them to use a scale to rate different aspects of their school's academics and administration, campus life, fellow students, and themselves.

Each ranking list reports the top 25 colleges in a specific category, like best food or classroom experience.

According to The Princeton Review, most of the rankings lists are based on students' answers to one question, such as "How do you rate your campus food?" But some lists, like the one for best classroom experience, are based on students' answers to more than one question.

According to the 2024 list, the top five schools for best campus food are:

  1. University of Massachusetts-Amherst — Amherst, Massachusetts
  2. Cornell University — Ithaca, New York
  3. Bowdoin College — Brunswick, Maine
  4. Pitzer College — Claremont, California
  5. Washington University in St. Louis — St. Louis, Missouri

This is the seventh time the University of Massachusetts Amherst has nabbed the top spot in The Princeton Review's list of best campus food, MassLive reported.

According to the school's website, UMass Dining sources 30% of its produce locally.

"Our mission is to serve you a variety of healthy and flavorful meals featuring local, regional and world cuisine, served in a sustainable and environmentally-conscious manner," the school wrote.

UMass Dining is made up of four residential dining commons, 12 eateries at the Campus Center, 20+ cafes, The University Club, Concessions, two food trucks, and a catering department.
