Stop & Shop Closes MA Stores, DraftKings Lounge: MA Food Week

MASSACHUSETTS — Welcome to Patch's weekly round up of food and restaurant news in Massachusetts, where we review openings, closings and more in the state's dining scene.

This week, we learned that the new sports lounge at the soon-to-open Bosse pickleball facility in Natick will be sponsored by DraftKings, bringing interactive betting to the space that will open with a full bar and food program.

Officials tell Patch that an opening day target has been set for Nov. 19, but that date may shift based on the permitting and inspection process.

Stop & Shop also closed seven Massachusetts stores on Thursday in a move that was announced earlier this year. The chain has now closed eight store in the state that were deemed "underperforming."

BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse will offer a dessert and free appetizers for all current and former military personnel with a valid ID this Veterans Day.

Veterans can get a free chocolate chunk pizookie with no minimum food purchase necessary on Veterans Day, which falls on Nov. 11 this year.

In addition to the dessert, veterans will receive a "bounce back coupon" for a free appetizer. The coupon is valid between Nov. 12 and Dec. 31, 2024, and can be used for dine-in or take-out.
