HUDSON, MA — A Massachusetts man is facing charges after fatally beating his grandmother with a skateboard, and also injuring two other family members, according to the Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Devin Dube, 29, was accused of killing his grandmother and injuring his father and sister in a fatal attack inside the family's Hudson home on Tuesday afternoon, DA Ryan said in a press conference on Wednesday.

He was charged with murder, assault and battery with serious bodily injury on a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to DA Ryan. Hudson police received a 911 call from a female resident on Munson Street at around 3:10 p.m. reporting that her brother, who was later identified as Dube, was attacking her with a skateboard, DA Ryan said.

Moments later, another call came in from inside the home, reporting the ongoing incident and indicating another person, who was identified as the defendant's grandmother, Elaine Dube, 90, was also being attacked, DA Ryan said.

Police said the defendant lived at the Munson Street home with his father, sister and grandmother.

Dube struck his grandmother several times with a skateboard, according to officials.

"Following what would be the fatal attack, the defendant also got into an altercation with his sister and his father, similarly striking them with a skateboard," DA Ryan said, adding that when police arrived at the home, he had already fled.

Hudson first responders received a third 911 call about 45 minutes later, reporting an individual running around a nearby property on Tower Street.

Police responded to that location and found Dube on the property hiding in a van. He was arrested on the scene without further incident, according to officials.

Elaine Dube was hospitalized, where she later died, and the other two victims were injured but treated and released from the hospital.

"I want to begin by extending our deepest condolences to the victim's family and loved ones," said Hudson Police Chief Richard P. DiPersio. "This is a senseless tragedy, and our thoughts are with everyone impacted during this terribly difficult time."

Chief DiPersio said there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the incident appeared to be contained within the home.

Hudson police will continue to work with the DA's office. Chief DiPersio said residents may continue to see officers in the area.
