Acton Man Accused Of Cutting Another With A Broken Beer Bottle

ACTON, MA — An Acton man was arrested Saturday morning after a report of an assault incident on Avalon Drive Friday, according to police. Harold Jonathan Hunter, 20, of Acton, was arrested just after 2:30 a.m. on with two assault and battery with a dangerous weapon-beer bottle charges. Police were called to a report of an altercation at an apartment building at just before 11 p.m.

"Upon arrival, officers located a man and woman, who were inside of one of the apartments in the building, who were suffering from non-life-threatening injuries," said Chief Richard Burrows of the Acton Police Department in a press statement. "Inside the apartment there were signs of an altercation, including broken wine bottles, tossed furniture and blood throughout the apartment."

Officers investigated the incident and accused Hunter of being the aggressor in the altercation and fleeing the scene before officers arrived.

"An on-scene investigation determined that Hunter allegedly threw a beer bottle at the woman, causing it to break," Burrows said. "Hunter then got into a physical altercation with the male victim and picked up a shard of glass from the broken beer bottle and cut the man."

Two victims were taken to the Emerson Hospital due to injuries.

Hunter is slated to be arraigned in Concord District Court Nov. 12.
