Acton teachers in 1960s time warp

The Acton teachers union (AEA) is turning back time to the 1960s when teachers were underpaid and overworked.

Now they are overpaid and underworked. Yet the union demands more. Is anybody surprised that public union members are never satisfied?

Patch recently reported a "demonstration" by sign-carrying teachers demanding yet higher wages. Let me begin by thanking the Acton teachers union for their public demonstrations. (Their rally at Town Hall is a follow-up to a rally at a recent School Committee meeting, meant to intimidate our elected School Committee representatives.) It has given me the chance to revisit one of my favorite topics.

Negotiations are supposed to be secret until a contract has been approved by both sides, but I guess rules do not apply to union members....
