Acton Toy Maker OYO Sports Continues Growth with $14M in Funding

The company was founded in 2011 and has licensing deals with the MLB, NHL, and NFL.

OYO Sports, the Acton company that makes Lego-like sports figurines, continues to grow.

The Boston Business Journal reported the company recently raised $14.1 million in equity funding. OYO currently has 160 employees at its Acton headquarters, more than double the number from earlier this year.

Tom Skripps founded the OYO Sports in 2011. The company has licensing deals with the MLB, NHL, and NFL. It recently released a set for retiring New York Yankees’ star Derek Jeter.

OYO has unique marketing tactics—including producing short videos with its figurines recreating famous sports moments like Bobby Orr’s goal to win the 1970 Stanley Cup. It has a heavy social media presence; its Facebook page has more than 100,000 followers.
