Arrest Made in Acton Swatting Incident

Jarrod Harlow allegedly performed the dangerous prank from Tennessee.

Acton police announced they made an arrest in a dangerous “swatting” incident last month.

Jarrod Harlow, 20, of Clinton, Mass., was arrested Friday by Leominster police.

Police said on July 20, Harlow called the Littleton police station and pretended to be a resident of Great Road. He said he was going to kill himself and shoot police officers.

Police responded to the address, which turned out to be a condominium unit, and found the man the suspect claimed to be. The man was cleared after talking to police, who are now searching for the real person who made the call.

The incident is a form of “swatting,” a dangerous hoax in which a caller gives a false report of a danger at a residence.

Police said Harlow made the fake call from Tullahoma, Tennessee. He allegedly made a similar call to Georgia police and was charged accordingly.

Acton police charged Harlow with making a false bomb threat, identity fraud, and disturbing the peace.
