Instead of a sermon, we’ll hear a first-person retelling of the moment Mary encountered the angel Gabriel. The story invites us into Mary’s memory of being a young girl doing ordinary chores when the extraordinary breaks in—an angel filling her small home with light, music, and a message she never expected. We’ll hear her fear, her questions, and her protests, echoing the reassurance once given to Jeremiah: “Do not be afraid.” The reading reveals the very human struggle behind Mary’s brave “yes,” a choice that changed her life and the world.
This Advent reflection helps us consider how God still meets us in ordinary places and how joy can rise even when we are uncertain—whenever we dare to trust the possibilities God sets before us.
