Cisco to Axe 180+ Jobs in Boxborough

A spokeswoman attributed the move to "disruption" in the technology sector.

Cisco will cut more than 180 jobs at its Boxborough facility.

The Boston Business Journal reported the company attributed the move to “disruption” in the technology sector. The layoffs were expected to be completed by the end of October.

The cuts come as the California-based company slashed CEO John Chambers’ pay 20 percent. Cisco’s sales were $47.1 billion in fiscal 2014, short of its $49.5 billion goal, according to Bloomberg.

Members of the state’s Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development went to the Boxborough facility Wednesday to meet with the affected workers and guide them through filing for unemployment benefits, said Ann Dufresne, communications director for the state office.
