Auditions for "Fiddler On The Roof"

Open Door Theater will hold auditions for its 2012 production of "Fiddler On The Roof" on January 8, 9 and 11 at the Dragonfly Theater at RJ Grey Junior High, 16 Charter Road, Acton.  (Snow date January 12, if needed.) Talented singers, dancers and actors of all ages and abilities are encouraged; you must be minimum age nine as of January 1, 2012 to participate.  If cast, rehearsals for “Fiddler” will require a commitment of Sunday afternoons and intermittent Tuesday & Thursday evenings.  Please reserve your audition spot on-line at www.opendoortheater.org

“Fiddler” is the beloved story of Tevye, a poor dairyman in Czarist Russia who tries to maintain his family and the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community while outside influences threaten to tear apart all that he holds dear.  Rich in historical and ethnic detail, “Fiddler On The Roof” has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. Its universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness. “Fiddler On The Roof” features book by Joseph Stein, music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick.  Based on Sholem Aleichem's stories by special permission of Arnold Perl. “Fiddler On The Roof” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Open Door Theater’s production of “Fiddler On The Roof” will run March 23-April 1st, 2012 at the Dragonfly Theater at RJ Grey Junior High.  The Sunday, March 25th performance will feature a live American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
