Cooking with Farmers Market Produce at the ABFM

OK, you've bought your farmers market veggies. NOW WHAT?

Chef Julia Shanks demonstrates creation of two terrific dishes at the Acton-Boxborough Farmers Market. Samples and take-away recipes will be available.

Lots of us in our hyper-stressed society have lost touch with the "kitchen arts" and with using fresh, unprocessed foods to make healthful meals. With fabulous local produce available every week, ABFM market-goers can use this bounty to support health and pleasure in eating without busting the family budget. And remember, the ABFM accepts SNAP/EBT benefits!

Chef Julia is a veteran of Restaurant Nora in Washington, DC, and Chez Henri in Cambridge, and consults with restaurants, farms, and food producers. Her book, The Farmer’s Kitchen, will be available for sale at market; a portion of the proceeds go to support The Carrot Project, a MA nonprofit that supports small and midsized Northeast farms and farm-related businesses through loan and technical assistance programs.

Come learn how to do simple, affordable, highly nutritious dishes that use local, seasonal produce! ABFM: Real Food from Real People!
