The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams

Acme Theater of Maynard's production of Tennessee Williams' classic American play, "The Glass Menagerie" is a beautifully drawn story set in 1930s St. Louis, with themes that still apply today. As aspiring poet Tom toils in a warehouse to support his family, he tries to escape his stifling home life and mother's efforts to find a husband for his painfully shy and crippled sister, Laura. The drama unfolds the night she convinces Tom to invite a friend to meet, and hopefully woo, Laura.

Directed by Harvard resident, Michael McGarty, the show features local talent Sharon Mason (Andover), William McGregor (Nashua, NH), James Turner (Harvard), Anna Chazelle (Boston), and Steve Hayward (Harvard). Performances run from November 18 to December 10, 2011 at Acme Theater on 61 Summer Street in Maynard, Mass. (within the ArtSpace community art center). Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8:00 p.m. and the Sunday, November 27, matinee is at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $17 general admission and $15 for students/seniors.
