Threshing & Pressing: 19th-Century Farming Tools & Techniques

Join the Acton Historical Society, farmer Bryon Clemence of Burroughs Farm, and the Acton-Boxborough Farmers Market for an event linking farming, history, and real, local food. See Clemence's Boxborough-grown wheat threshed and winnowed on AHS's 1850 thresher, and local apples pressed for cider with an 1875 apple press — both powered by people rather than motors!

In addition, AHS docents will offer displays and demonstrations of other 19th-century farm implements, give tours of the Hosmer House, and offer refreshments.

"Threshing & Pressing" will take place rain or shine. Parking is available on site as well as in nearby parking lots; donations are happily accepted. More information at the ABFM website.
