WHAT: The
Highland Street Foundation will kick off its sixth annual “Free Fun Fridays” initiative,
a summer program that opens doors at no cost to visitors to treasured cultural
institutions throughout Massachusetts, with seven venues on Friday, June 27.
For 10 weeks this summer, five or more cultural venues will be open
free-of-charge every Friday. A total of 67 museums and cultural venues will participate in the program, an increase from the 60 venues that participated in
2013.
Fun Fridays” is open to patrons of all ages and incomes. Since being
established in 2009, “Free Fun Fridays” has drawn more than half a million
visitors to its participating venues. Last year, the event saw 165,000 visitors. This year, the Foundation hopes to reach more than 200,000 visitors.

HOW: All
“Free Fun Fridays” events are free and open to the public, thanks to grants
from The Highland Street Foundation. The Highland Street Foundation has
invested $650,000 to support the 2014 “Free Fun Fridays” program.
WHY: The
Highland Street Foundation is committed to addressing the needs and concerns of
children and families in Massachusetts and California. Highland Street directs
their efforts to provide access and opportunities in the areas of education,
housing, mentorship, health care, the environment and the arts.
