Gas Drops Below $3 at Local Stations

It’s a sight that hasn’t been seen in nearly four years—$2.99 gas.

That was the price of gas at the Westford Cumberland Farms station Wednesday. Prices also hit $2.99 in Chelmsford. Gas hasn’t hit the sub-$3 mark in Acton yet.

Thanks in part to increased drilling production, gas prices in the U.S. on Monday averaged $3.05—the lowest figure in nearly four years, according to federal statistics. In Massachusetts, the average price was $3.13.
