Investigation Ongoing After MBTA Train Obliterates Car in Acton
The driver of the car survived the crash.

Authorities on Tuesday were continuing to investigate a crash involving a MBTA commuter rail train and a car.
The driver of the car, a 63-year-old woman from Stow, survived. Her name was not released.
The crash happened Monday at about 7:45 p.m. on Route 111.

MBTA Transit Police said the railroad gates were down and working properly at the time of the crash.
The woman was driving a red 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander. The vehicle flipped over and was smashed nearly beyond recognition.

The Fitchburg line train was headed into Boston at the time of the crash. About 25 people were onboard; none were hurt. Service was halted but resumed late Monday night.
