Pay-Per-Bag System at Acton Transfer Station Approved
Voters signed off on the measure during Town Meeting deliberations Tuesday.

Acton voters on Tuesday approved a pay-per-bag system at the transfer station.
The measure passed by a vote of 110-60 during Town Meeting deliberations.
Currently, residents pay a $210 fee to dispose of trash and recyclables at the transfer station. The pay-per-bag system would reduce that fee to $100—but residents would have to purchase bags to dispose of their trash. The bags would come in three size and cost anywhere from 50 cents for a small bag to $1.50 for a large one.
