The fire appears to have been caused by a welding project, the department said.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover Fire Rescue put out a fire on Main Street, Wednesday morning. There were no injuries, Chief Michael Mansfield said.
A firefighter on a detail at a welding project at 27 Main Street reported the fire at 8:52 a.m., and teams arrived three minutes later, finding smoke visible from the building.
People working in the building, including at other businesses, safely left the building.

The fire is estimated to have caused $100,000 in damage. The department believes the fire was caused by a welding project in the space above the Btone Fitness studio. The studio's ceiling, where the fire was mainly contained, was damaged.
“Fortunately, no one was injured this morning and our firefighters were able to swiftly get this fire under control,” Chief Mansfield said. “Thanks to the firefighter on detail at the welding site, this fire was immediately reported, allowing our crews to respond instantly. I’d also like to thank the crews from Lawrence, Tewksbury and Wilmington who responded and provided station coverage for us during this incident.”
A portion of Main Street was closed Wednesday while firefighters were on the scene.
This was the second significant fire the town has seen in a week. Andover Fire Rescue put out a fire in a multi-family home on Temple Place, Thursday.
