ANDOVER, MA — The town of Andover hosted a "Bunny Hop Parade" through town Sunday, to celebrate Easter while social distancing. The Easter Bunny rode an Andover Fire Rescue ladder truck through every neighborhood, joined by a caravan of town vehicles.

Police and public works vehicles joined the Bunny, according to a news release by Town Manager Andrew Flanagan.

"Today was a great day for Andover," Flanagan said in a statement. "We were able to get to every neighborhood in the community, getting people out in a healthy and safe way to celebrate the community."

It was the town's first Easter parade, Flanagan said. It started at the Public Safety Complex on North Main Street, around 11 a.m., and took six hours coursing 70 miles through every town neighborhood.

"We know people have been inside and it's been a frustrating time and people aren't going to be able to celebrate Easter as they normally would have, so we figured we'd bring a celebration to everyone's neighborhood. I think this may be the start of a new Andover tradition," Flanagan said.

Flanagan thanked town employees for their work on the parade.
