Andover Man Convicted of 'Repeated Sexual Assaults' of a Child

The judge described the crimes as "calculated, escalating assaults on a vulnerable young child by a much older adult."

ANDOVER, MA — An Andover man was convicted Friday of child rape charges in connection with crimes described by Judge Kathe Tuttman as “calculated, escalating assaults on a vulnerable young child by a much older adult under circumstances which are egregious,” according to the Essex County District Attorney's office.

Kenneth Nutter, 71, formerly of Andover and North Andover, was sentenced to nine to 12 years in state prison followed by 5 years probation. Nutter was convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting a boy when he was between the ages of 12 to 16 from 2000 to 2004.

The victim came forward to North Andover police in 2014.

Nutter was convicted of one count of the rape of a child, one count of assault to rape a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery upon a child and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.
