Andover resident appointed senior vice president at Cummings Properties

Chief Financial Officer Bill Grant has been with the firm for 18 years

Thirty-three-year Andover resident William F. “Bill” Grant was recently appointed senior vice president at Cummings Properties, the Woburn-based commercial real estate firm where he serves as chief financial officer.

Grant joined Cummings Properties in 1998. He manages all accounting, human resources, and IT functions for the Cummings organization, which has a staff of more than 600. He also serves as a pro bono advisor to Cummings Foundation.

One of Grant’s principal responsibilities is oversight of the organization’s more than $1.2 billion diversified investment portfolio and management of its relationships with four different financial advisors.

“Bill is integrally involved with myriad issues that affect every staff member,” according to President and CEO Dennis Clarke. “We greatly value the expertise and dedication that he brings to Cummings Properties and are fortunate to have such a skilled and knowledgeable colleague on our leadership team.”

Outside of Cummings Properties, Grant has served on the board of directors of Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM)—the Commonwealth’s largest employer association—since 2009 and as chair of its Health Care Cost and Policy Committee since 2012.

He is also a board member at Hunters Ridge Condominiums, where he and his wife, Kathy, live. Kathy retired last March, after working for the town of Andover in various administrative roles for 28 years. The couple has two adult children and five grandchildren.

“We have a wonderful team at Cummings,” said Grant. “I am honored to be a part of the leadership of this dynamic and ever-evolving company.”

Grant received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in accounting from Bentley College. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Prior to joining Cummings Properties, he held several senior management positions at Tweeter, etc. and was chief financial officer for Rich’s department stores from 1989 to 1998.

Cummings Properties General Counsel Craig Ziady, formerly of Andover, was also recently named senior vice president.

With a portfolio of this size and variety across 10 suburban Boston communities, the firm can meet almost any commercial real estate need from 150 square feet to 300,000 square feet.
