Koh Will Run For Andover Selectman After Failed Bid For Congress

Koh lost the Democratic primary to eventual winner Lori Trahan by 145 votes.

ANDOVER, MA -- It's not quite Capitol Hill in Washington, but Dan Koh says he will run for selectman in Andover. Koh placed second in a 10-way Democratic primary for U.S. Representative, losing to eventual general election winner Lori Trahan by just 145 votes. From 2013 to last year, Koh was chief of staff to Boston Mayor Martin Walsh.

"Whether serving in Congress or serving the town, it's the same principle," Koh told the Eagle-Tribune, which first reported this story. "For me, I'm a local government person. My aim is to be the best local official I can possibly be and that's where my heart has been in the first place."

Two seats on the five-member board are up for reelection in the March town election. Chairman Alexander J. Vispoli is running for re-election, while Paul Salafia said Monday he will not run for a fourth term.
