LaRosa's Brings a New School Twist on Old Italian

LaRosa's provides an authentic dining experience with Italian specialties that will make your mouth water.

There are certain places that I walk by and just know that I should stop in. LaRosa's is one of those places and I recently had the pleasure to partake of their fine foods.

Scanning the menu board and display cases, I was immediately impressed with LaRosa's breadth of options. Gourmet sandwiches, salads, soups, prepared foods, pizza, desserts and more all caught my eye. I knew I would find just the right thing to hit the spot. In addition to the vast menu I was pleasantly surprised by the open and inviting seating area which was larger than I had expected. The friendly and comfortable atmosphere was very welcoming.

Opened in October of 2009, LaRosa's has been pleasing patrons in and around Andover with their deliciously unique style. They have fashioned themselves as a "sit down restaurant with quality food, served in a to-go setting." Chef Paul LaRosa together with Michael and Jamie Cammarata partnered to create a Sicilian/Mediterranean influenced menu that boasts fresh, seasonal ingredients, homemade Italian specialties, Boars Head meats and fresh baked breads which are delivered daily by 9 a.m. Some things that you will not find at LaRosa's are any frozen, fried or microwaved foods.  This home-style eatery features only all natural, quality goodness.

The relaxed atmosphere inside LaRosa's is ideal for lunch gatherings, a family dinner or any casual occasion.  Open Monday –Friday from 10-7 and Saturday from 10-6, it is a great place to dine-in or take-out. Either way you are assured a delectable meal.

Joined by two friends, I stopped in to LaRosa's for lunch. The traffic in and out was busy during an otherwise quiet vacation week, post-Christmas. The friendly service and cozy neighborhood style made us feel right at home. Chef Paul LaRosa was on site to make some recommendations and I was quick to take his suggestion for the roasted Portobello sandwich.  My fellow diners both decided upon the Il Panino.

The Portobello sandwich with roasted peppers, arugula and goat cheese was truly delicious. Accompanied by a side of mixed greens drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette, it was a fantastic blend of flavors.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the fresh braided roll which was perfectly soft, yet hearty enough to hold up to the impressive ingredients within.

The Il Panino was reported as being "phenomenal." It combined the wonderful flavors of imported Prosciutto di Parma, fresh mozzarella, vine-ripened tomato and fresh basil. As if these treats weren't enough, we each sampled the Jumbo Stuffed Peppers, a catering item from the front case, and agreed that they were another winning choice.

Chef LaRosa has certainly carved an inspired niche in our area. He explained that he and his partners realized that Andover was in need of a traditional type of restaurant such as theirs.

Since inception LaRosa's menu has grown right along with their customer base. While always maintaining the traditional essence of their plates, they now strive to incorporate new touches that introduce a modern flair but are equally as delicious.

"We are bringing the old school back to the new school," LaRosa said.

Our experience was that of an authentic, homemade Italian meal. It was entirely satisfying and I look forward to my next visit. LaRosa's  also provides catering that is perfect for family or corporate events.
