Police Capture Haverhill Man, Accomplice Wanted In Armed Carjackings

Police have caught two suspects in a New Hampshire carjacking case after a pursuit in Massachusetts.

HAVERHILL, MA — State police said they have caught a Haverhill man and a woman wanted in an armed carjacking case. Troopers took Nathan Saben, 35, into custody Thursday morning.

Police said they spotted Saben driving a black 2012 Subaru Outback he carjacked in Wolfeboro, NH on South Union Street in Lawrence at 9:11 a.m. Saben fled onto Essex Street, then to Route 110 West in Dracut, according to police.

State and Lawrence police pursued and stopped Saben at 110 Little Merrimack Ave. in Dracut. A woman alleged to be Saben's accomplice was also taken into custody, according to police.

The incident started Tuesday night when Haverhill police reported that they had pursued a white Kia on Route 97 toward Salem. Police stopped the pursuit prior to the New Hampshire state line.

Moments later, Salem dispatch received calls reporting attempted carjackings by a man and a woman armed with a rifle and driving a white car. The two attempted carjackings were on Main Street (Route 97).

The victims escaped with their vehicles in both cases.

A third carjacking attempt was reported at the intersection of Main Street and Geremonty Drive in Salem. A young woman was driving a Toyota Camry that was blocked in by a white Kia.

She was forced out of her car at gunpoint and her car was stolen. The victim was not injured.

The suspects abandoned the white Kia sedan in the middle of the Main Street intersection. The car had the same license plate as the Kia that Haverhill police had been pursuing.

Police said at the time Saben should be considered armed and dangerous.

All victims gave a similar description of the rifle, saying it was similar to an AR-15.
