State Again Denies Funding For High School Building Project
The superintendent announced the MSBA's decision at the Thursday school committee meeting.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover's application for state funding for renovations of the high school was again rejected, the superintendent announced at the Thursday evening school committee. The district received informal word from state Sen. Barry Finegold that the Massachusetts School Building Authority had not accepted the district's request. This is the second time the project has been turned down by the MSBA.
The proposed renovations or reconstruction would deal with overcrowding and aging facilities at the high school. MSBA funds up to 40 percent of construction costs on school construction and renovation projects when it partners with school districts. In 2017, the district was accepted into the MSBA for funding for West Elementary School.
Next steps regarding the high school will be determined by the school committee, said district spokeswoman Nicole Kieser. The selectmen approved the MSBA submission at a meeting in March.
