2 Scams Targeting Arlington Residents: Police

The department is warning residents of two scams reported to police this week.

ARLINGTON, MA – The police department is warning residents of two scams reported this week. One scam is a call from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration who asks for your social security number.

Another scam asks for money, gift cards or money orders to help out a relative who was arrested, according to police.

Residents are advised not to give any personal information over the phone, including their social security number, date of birth or financial information. When in doubt, get their number, hang up and call police dispatch at 781-643-1212.

Residents are also asked to warn elderly relatives or relatives with an impairment.
