Week in Review: A Week of Heat, Floods, Pledges and Losses

It was a wild week in Arlington weather-wise. The heat climbed dangerously high in the beginning of the week, causing many to stay indoors. By yesterday, temperatures were still warm, but not so hot and then the skies opened up, causing flash floods, although none in Arlington as severe as the ones in Cambridge and Somerville.

The School Committee continued to respond to the Pledge of Allegiance issue and Chairman Joseph Curro drafted a new potential policy that will go before the Policies and Procedures subcommittee on July 20.

Residents were talking about texting while driving as well as casinos.

Meanwhile, in sports, it was a bad week. The Pond Rats had a disappointing loss on Monday and then lost again on Wednesday night to Medford.
