The Arlington Catholic boys' lacrosse team was recognized recently for its outstanding character by the sport's governing body.
The Cougars, who finished the season at a program best 17-6, received the MIAA Sportsmanship Award on Wednesday, June 16, at Harvard Stadium during halftime of the East Division 3 championship game, which Cohasset won with a 10-8 win over Norwell.
Only one team from each division in each sport receives the annual award.

In a letter to the MIAA, Cougar coach Dan Brothers wrote that the team's attitude and style of play had improved dramatically in the last two years. He credited the team's 10 seniors, namely the captains, for the change.
"Our captains, Corey Donovan, Joe Daly, Breandan Crane and John Raimo, have been instrumental as leaders of what an Arlington Catholic lacrosse player should be, both on and off the field," he wrote.
