ARLINGTON, MA — The Robbins and Fox Branch Libraries have announced the return of their annual Summer Reading Program, which begins on Saturday, June 13 and offers reading challenges and activities for children, teens, and adults throughout the summer.

This year's theme is "Unearth a Story," part of the nationwide Collaborative Summer Library Program. The program is intended to encourage reading during the summer months and help students maintain reading skills while away from school.

Separate programs are available for different age groups. Children can participate in a noncompetitive reading challenge that encourages independent reading, family reading and listening to audiobooks. Participants receive a free book when they register and can earn another after reaching a reading milestone.

Teen participants can take part in a Summer Reading Challenge running through Friday, Aug. 21. They can earn raffle tickets by registering and completing reading activities on a bingo card. Prizes include gift cards to local businesses such as The Book Rack, Play Time, and the Capitol Theatre.

Adults can also participate in a bingo-style challenge and earn entries into prize drawings by completing reading and library-related activities throughout the summer.

Registration and challenge materials will be available on June 13 at both library locations. The Arlington Library Foundation is supporting the program by funding the prizes and activities.
